fartsy

as in "artsy", not "flatulence". as in, i've been feeling quite artsy-fartsy lately.

does anyone remember when i ruined harry potter day for myself & went on a walk for edamame & a cupcake? well, i used michael's camera & took some pictures during that walk (effectively making it a 60 minute trip, when it should have been, like, 25). also, at the beginning of july, michael & i went out on a lunch date to josephine's (a very fancy-pants-y resturant), where i took photos. and the piece de resistance was making cleverly decorated cupcakes this morning & then taking pictures of them.

scroll on for gloriousness, my friends. scroll on...

michael says, "hey, i'm actually smiling!?" do you enjoy the cool salt shaker. oh yeah, drink the artestry in....

all the images are from the harry-potter-recovery-walk, except the biggest one in the bottom row, which i took off the internets (it's a series of tubes!). for more on this collage go to the wedding blog

'owl' be watching you! seriously, don't you love these little suckers? well, you better they took me 2 hours to make! but they are delicously delicous! my friend cheryl had a birthday & a bunch of us had lunch, so this was my contribution. since cheryl mentioned she reads this blog now she gets a shout-out (since i love nothing more than getting my ego boosted!)

oh yeah, i bought a new dress! i can't get enough of dresses, man. the justification for this one was tri-fold: 1) i had a $100 gift card 2)it was only $20 3) i needed a first-day-of-school outfit & i can also wear it to my next bridal shower. and, DUH - pockets!

so there you have it. and you most likely are wondering (beyond how amazing my pocket dress is), "mollsballs, how did you get so good at photo collages? i though you swore never to use them again?" and i would answer your thoughts by thinking, "i got a program called PhotoScape, to make invitations for the co-op's soiree last spring & it has an AMAZING 'page' tool that lets you create any number of collage pages in a simple & easy to use format!!" bitchen.

mollsballs out!!

seriously, don't think less of me

want to know the sure fire equation for freaking me the f out? read on...

2:30pm; phone call to me from michael: "hey molly, i dropped my car off at the auto shop & left my phone in it. would you pick it up please?"

3:00pm; me driving home from the auto shop: "ho ho ho, that silly michael!"

4:30pm; phone call to me from michael: "hey, i'll be home late, we're going to a fire. love you - bye!"

7:00pm; me to myself: "better put the dinner away." (and it was a really good one too! grilled chicken, tomato, corn & zucchini relish, and pasta salad.)

8:30pm; me to myself: "he must not be riding his bike home, he'll probably get a ride" a tiny, mean voice in the back of my head says "or maybe try to ride it home anyway & crash somewhere...hehehe" (this voice sounds like the wicked witch)

10:00pm; me to myself: "i'll call him-oh wait, i have his phone! not so silly now, is it? it's alright, he'll be home any minute, i'll wait up." (wicked witch voice says, "or he's burned up or stuck under a tree")

11:00pm; me to myself: "okay, deep breaths, just try to go to sleep." (wicked witch voice says, "hey, those sirens far away are probably for michael - cackle.cackle.cackle!")

12:00am; text from me to numbers michael called from earlier: "hi, could michael still possibly be at work or is he lieing dead in a ditch somewhere?" (this one is heavily paraphrased)

12:30am; text from numbers to me: "yes! i'll be home soon - in an hour & a half"

12:30am; me to myself: "holy freakin hell. H.A.T.E that whole thing that just happened"

so, naturally, i blogged about it. mostly to keep me awake for another hour & a half. i don't know if i will yell or be very happy to see him....what would you do? is anyone else this crazy when their significant other is gone for longer than expected without any word?

get ready to form opinions

so, i've been lamenting the lack of casual shirts in my closet & decided i wanted to get another t-shirt like my "pterodactyls are pterrifying" one. well, little did i know i'd have so many shirts to choose from! so put on your thinking caps and get ready to tell me which shirt(s) i should get. and, yes, this is completely enabelling my inability to make decisions for myself. get over it.

i say hot mess all the time, but i don't know what that has to do with pancakes?

obviously
i have been coveting this one for a while - it cracks me up!! do you get it?

this one took me a while to get it, but the caption is "a cat says Mao" (like a cat says 'meow', but it's Mao Zedong)
the rock looks so scared!
hopefully you'll all get this, since i told you AGES ago to watch "flight of the conchords". if not, go to youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN0oDnoc3-c

look closely....this one also cracks me up & is a front runnermostly, i like this one for my mom, because it reminds me of pirate of the carribean, which she can't NOT watch if it's on
another favorite, mostly because i'm a primary grade teacher. i could probably right this one off on my taxes.
math nerdity
computer nerdity....wow, there's a lot of nerdity in these choices
again, primary teacher: kids need to know about venn diagrams AND narwhals
if you don't get this reference, go to youtube now!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5im0Ssyyus

you didn't think i was serious about the choices did you!? well, get thinking! i expect comments from everyone! i will check my statcounter and track you down if you read and don't contribute. this is my LIFE here people! well, it's my torso, but that's a pretty important part. besides, you don't want to be responsible for me buying $100 worth of t-shirts do you?

i think i'm melting...oh wait, it might just be sweat

to get over my stupidity of not being prepared to see harry potter, i took a walk and bought some edamame and a cupcake. it really helped the nerves. feeling calmed and collected, i was ready to embark on a few days in the valley of the sun

*cut to wednesday at 10am* HOLY BALLS! it is so hot in phoenix! crap! i need to eat lunch! (which krissy gratefully helped me get to)

thankfully, my car has an AC that's not effing around and i wasn't a sweaty mess when i got to my dress appointment. (operation pockets was a success!!) after that, i made my way to another happily air conditioned place: a movie theatre showing Harry Potter!!

friends, let me say that one should not read a book just prior to seeing a movie based upon said book. getting so excited for scenes unshown is just a let-down (good thing i had raisenettes). let me just say, in an unofficial review, that i enjoyed most things & understood most changes, but there were 3 major problems with this film that unfortunately made it unable to be better than the last film. sadly, this was a streak the series had going for it since the beginning -- each film was better than the last. alas, the stupid, STUPID screen-adaptor decided to take liberties he shouldn't have and piddled on the story. i hope he rues the day! on the bright side, i saw it with krissy and ashley and they are always so much fun: "snap!"

lastly, after a nice visit with the my family, i hoped to come home to flagstaff and cool down. which just did. not. happen! it's hot as balls here too! i got a sunburn driving around town yesterday. and now i'm lounging in my bathing suit just like in phoenix! this world is all mixed up. i think might go take a cold bath....

Hyperventaliation

i can't believe harry potter day is among us. the wait has been so long, but the reward shall be great! dear cousin ashley is trying to procure a ticket for tonight's midnight showing. let's hope it's successful.

it's so exciting that i'm glad i've fully recovered from my totally amazing till-family bridal shower extravaganza in claremont this past weekend. i'm not sure if i've had a more jam packed weekend in, well, ever! [check the wedding blog for more details & pictures (michaelmolly.blogspot.com)]. it would've been a travesty to be too tired for harry.

EDIT: except i'm a HUGE idiot & did not think to procure a ticket before the day off the showing, soooooo i'm not in line for harry right now. but dear cousin ashley never fails and has offered to see it with me another night this week. another BIG le sigh

This one is going in the book.

i was getting my hair cut and my stylist is a parent/friend from school. i had her youngest son as a student for 2 years and babysat for her a couple times. we're chatting about her son (let's call him boeing). he lost a tooth about a week ago and the tooth fairy forgot -- she always forgets! so my stylist decided to just tell him the truth, he's 7 now, he'd be okay.

she tells him, "can you keep a secret? yes? alright, I'm the tooth fairy."
boeing says, "Really? Can I tell big brother?"
she says, "No, it's a secret!"

Later, she hears the boys whispering. Boeing told his brother.
Big Brother says to her, "I knew because I stayed up all night one time." (This is a lie, she says, he's saving face)
Boeing says, "I KNEW I heard the garage door opening every night..." *pause* "Mom, what do you do with all the teeth?"

Oh my god, he thinks SHE is the tooth fairy of the world!! She told him that she just throws away all the teeth, then later said she's just the tooth fairy for him & big brother. He was jonesing to go back to school and tell all his friends his mom was the tooth fairy. she does not think he fully believes her.

I love kids.

PS I know what you're all thinking and, yes, my hair looks great

my summer vacation(s)

as i previously mentioned, my first summer "vacation" this year was to mesa. Wooot. It was my only planned vacation & i was looking forward to it. It did not disappoint! I got in a lot of face time with the fam. Mom, Krissy & i went to david's to look at dresses for my mom & then ate lunch. (She found a very cute dress, by the way). I also went out to dinner with some girlfriends, followed by a movie, & later a lunch date with jenjen. the trip was slightly marred by an exceedingly lame conference in tucson (i knew i couldn't trust you az dept of ed!) however, when i returned home i saw Away We Go with ashley (LOVE.LOVE. this movie. see it - end of discussion); the hangover with kristina; and had a fabulous chinese food dinner with the family. I'll be back in mesa again in a few weeks for a mini-get away.

my 2nd, unplanned vacation this summer is one that i'm on RIGHT NOW. you may be saying to yourself - what do you mean, molly? what i mean is that michael & i are house sitting for a family and their home is so awesome that it's like we're on vacation. it's out in the forest, surrounded by trees. since they are established people & all grown up they have things we do not. they have a kitchen that can hold more than two people. they have a table. they have dogs. they have a nice big bed. they have a squeegie for their shower door. they have an espresso maker. they have a hopped up golf cart. they have a man-cave. we're totally getting spoiled & still have another week left. i'll be very sad when this vacation is over (and it's making me want a house more than ever -- oh to have a yard! or even just a place to eat dinner)

in other news: because of my great vacations i've been away from swimming & crossfit for a few weeks. while i've semi-dumped swimming (it's boring when no one is there with you), i did go to cross fit on thursday. it was KILLER. like really, i want to kill someone for the soreness inflicted upon my thigh muscles. i can't bend at the knee without extra support.

finally, have a great 4th of July. We went to the dwight yoakam concert last night, which was followed by the longest fireworks show in the history of my life. more to come on that later... (i know you're quivering in anticipation)
