item 1: chompers
I went to the dentist last week for my first cleaning in who knows how long. And, drumroll.......no cavaties!!! I also flossed last night & no bleeding! Woot woot, indeed. The cleaning was vicious, as I had years of tarter built up, but the hygenist taught me many dental hygiene facts: 1. tarter is plaque that gets hard. 2.some people can have tons of tarter in only a few weeks, other people will take year to get that much. 3. when you floss, you should wrap it around your middle fingers, not index. 4. you should also floss *underneath* your gums. 5. if your gums bleed when you floss, it means you should floss more often.
item 2: triceps
at Crossfit on tuesday (my workout class), we did what I though would be a relatively easy workout of static holds. Hold a squat; hold a plank position; hold a 1/2 way down push-up; hold on your back with your shoulders off the ground touching your toes above your head; hold a pull-up. it was rough at the time (especially because we did that so. many. times!), but today. woo-doggy, today my triceps are beat up! they are sore just sitting around, not to mention things like putting my hair in a ponytail, pulling a shirt over my head, anything that has my arms going up farther than 90 degrees to my chest. but, hey, at least it wasn't running!
item 3: cars
last wednesday i took my car to get fixed at a local shop. it had been making a terrible airplane-taking-off noise & michael suspected the bearing. he was 100% correct and the autoshop was amazing. they fixed it in 1 day! however, michael's truck also has a terrible noise (more of a marbles-rolling-around-violently sound), so i had to use public transportation for the day to drop it off & pick it up. let me say just this: the bus is awesome. for $2.00 i got all around town and didn't have to do a thing except look up what time to be a the bus stop. everyone should try it; i felt so urban
item 4: oh my!
tomorrow i'm going on my summer vacation -- to Mesa!! yeeaahh! i've got quite the line-up: dropping of my dress to get hemmed, mother of the bride outfit shopping, girls' dinner, father's day, conference in tucson, laying out at jens, insuring my ring, and possibly going to get a make-up trial. VERY BIG EDIT: AND GOING TO SEE 'AWAY WE GO' WITH MY FAVORITE COUSIN ASHLEY, WHOM I HOPE STILL LOVES ME DISPITE THIS GRAVOUS OVERSIGHT! plus when i get back, i'll be having an extended vacation -- house sitting!! yeeaaahhh again! seriously though, the house is sweet and surrounded by woods, with two decks, and a grill, and some cute dogs, and a man-house with a kegerator/pool table/game room, and we're getting paid. end of june-beginning of july will rock my socks!

the year in review
first things first. when school ended, chris decided to paint her bulletin boards & put decorate with bubbles (so that, on bad days, she can think of champagne and be happy). it turned out amazing! sadly i don't have any pictures, but it looks really good. and since, as has been mentioned many times, i'm basically just chris except little-er, i copied and painted my room too. it's not as vibrant as her room (purple & lime green, with turquoise bubbles), it's bright & good enough for me. my next step is to perhaps paint those bubbles on some of my shelving:

now that school has been about for a few weeks and i've had time to recover, i can sufficiently say that i really, really, loved my class this past year. here's a recap of the best things from 08-09 (and I found a picture collage maker!!!):

my favorite part is the girl with her hand out while she's pouring tea. also the last picture with all the movement lines really captures how much they freakin' MOVE around (ps did anyone catch the pulp fiction dance moves?)

a lady came and did a lesson on dance & water movement. can you spot the teacher (me) in the first photo? we moved like things in the story she read, practiced being waves/rocks, and then used our bodies to show how different objects act in water (i.e. dissolve)

wow- making picture collages is almost as much work as just posting them all, but i'll stick with it. check back soon for when i actually have something to talk about (on deck for me is subbing at summer school, visiting home, girls' night, a conference in tucson, and house sitting!)
PS. Did I mention that I got a job next year?! I signed my contract right before school let out (which you may have guessed since I painted a room!) I'll have a straight first grade class next year, with all my students from the kindergarten part of my K-1. I'm psyched!

our first field trip to beaver creek: science + waterplay = fun

11 minutes
that's how long it took me to run a mile today! it was hideous and every bit as horrible as i thought it would be. but that's the thing about crossfit: it SUCKS while it's happening, but you feel so amazing afterwords. well, after you can breathe again & see straight. "Arms above your head!" says the guy on the treadmill next me. i am going to look so hot in october.
in other news, today was a LONG day at school. the last tuesday of the year. things are looking hopeful that i'll have a class next year, but even if i don't, someone is going to get quite a class of cuties next year. although they'll probably have a harder time than i will. case in point:
as we practice our kindergarten graduation today, my little red-headed buddy who i will call "bottle rocket" (because they are red & explosive, just like him), was totally insane! he had toys in his mouth, his fingers up his nose, totally crazy singing voices alternating with absolutely no singing at all. i tried my best to make him not embarrass himself, but he wasn't having any of it. and the worst part? while he's making his crazy faces i can't help but laugh! i wonder why he does it, hmm? and the actual worst part is that is EXACTLY how he'll behave tomorrow. anyway the point is, he should be all mine next year which won't be bad because i know him. however, i pity the fool who stumbles into that classroom (Bottle Rocket is joined by Talks-Too-Much, I-Hate-That Boy, How-Do-I-Spell-My-Name? kid, Tiny Trouble, & Miss Thang)
i'll update by the end of the week on if i've got a job *fingers crossed*
