Dear Cowboys,

Remember when we totally kicked your asses Sunday? Remember how your first loss of the season was to your arch-rivals - who are infinitely cooler than you? Remember how Tony Romo is a douche? Didn't that all suck for you? Yeah, I thought so.
Sincerely,
A Redskins Fan

P.S. That's how you play football!

That is the rough draft of a letter I'd like to send to the Cowboys this week; just because I can. If you've got any good trash-talk, let me know. John & Michael are encouraging me to get my own segment on Sundays, trash-talking teams called "That's How You Play Football". I was very please to see that Horton (Hears a Dread) was back in action & that Jim Zorn is such an enthusiastic fellow.

Go ahead, friends, sing the song. You know you want too. And if you don't know it, go HERE - learn it - be prepared to sing it a lot.

at last....this post has come along

....you're lonely blogging days are over.... *nerd, that's me*

Before you begin living vicariously through my vacation, here are some school updates:
  • Yesterday was Game & Fish Day at the pond and it was SO MUCH FUN. I had to force the kids to leave to get back to school. My students caught three fish, we got to play around with bones & animal hides, saw very large alive birds, and got goodies at the end. NOTE to Game & Fish: Next year, pre-roll your posters & have just examples out, so they can say which one & it's already ready. Fenner, it's on the blog, it has been decreed, make it happen!
  • We're going to Beaver Creek tomorrow. It's my turn to be totally in charge & I'm pretending to be cool about it. I'll let you know how it goes.
  • I finally put in all my paperwork to move over on the pay scale!
anyway, new mexico was a blast, except for the 24 hour period of me puking (don't ask - stomach flu and/or lambic beer poisoning) And specially for Jen, this re-cap will be picture centric:

here's a little teaser....

soon, so very very soon, my good friends I will update you about what I did this long weekend in the land of New Mexico. Goodies include: throwing an axe, throwing up, throwing an impromptu party, & throwing down some credits at a fireworks stand.

yes, indeed, lots of throwing......

a sidenote: as I was writing "throwing down..." i wrote "bones" as my slang word of the day for dollar bills and then thought 'that really sounds like a dance move." then, I had to twiddle my fingers to remember what the 'b' word for dollars was: 'is it deer?' i literally thought that to myself. then i remembered that the cool kids say "bucks". and THEN i remembered that the even COOLER kids say "credits" because that's all money really is anyway.
the end

this just in...

shocking news about a HUGE difference between boys & girls, men & women:::

Dudes can make a machine gun noise with their tongues.
Ladies cannot.

After much scientific research -- consisting mostly of watching Fenner, Michael, and Grey do it, then Chris & I failing, plus asking random members of my family -- I have yet to hear a female make the noise properly, while all the males (even one whose age is still counted by months instead of years!) can.

If any lady can offer proof of the machine gun with your tongue noise, please let me know immediately!!

In Other News:: I totally love my parents. The Redskins TOTALLY WON THEIR GAME; my mom had lots of yummies ready to snack on; Ashley lit up my life with fabulous stories & quips; and the Skelnik parentals showed up briefly before Michael & I's departure. Hopefully, my next visit will be timed to ensure a Skelnik-based Football Sunday.

didja miss me?

sorry for the extended absence, but school has been "hella" crazy lately. "hella" is a word that came to me out of a 5 year obscurity when I was hanging out with a bunch of teacher friends & a 16 year old. (he was a relative, nothing skeezy going on). even though i'm still "young" and, perhaps even "hip" (i know the coolness deteriorates every time i use quotation marks) being around a 16 year old kid makes me feel old --- but immensly happy about not being 16 anymore.

anyway, i've had a cornicopia of issues with my first classroom ever including (but not limited to): a super crazy mom; getting & loosing students like it's going out of style; dealing with a chronic pants-pooper; an impulsive hellion; and of course, doing a little something called "teaching children stuff". wooo, teaching is awesome!! however, i am still capable of being better than other kindergarten teachers around town, so i take small comfort in that.

and so, i ask all of you good friends -- whenever you get the urge, please call me to do something fun. i promise to do my best to actually go out, especially if there're over-21 beverages involved.
