My First Days of School

So I've completed my first real week of teaching Kindergarten and let me just say, It was effing terrible. Probably one of the worst weeks of my life. Well, 1/2 a week, since my mornings in the preschool are infinitely better than my afternoons. Let me break it down for you with a sweet Venn Diagram:

As you can see, not everything is so great. Obviously, there are sides to both, but that stupid thing took me like, 40 minutes to create and I'm not doing it again so soon. Therefore, I will make a simple list:

Kindergarten good:
  1. Chris & Steph as my co-teacher/aide are very much fun.
  2. A rare few of the kids are cute, smart, and listen to me
  3. I do get lots of breaks because of specials.
  4. Planning is pretty easy, since Chris knows lots of stuff
  5. I don't work every other Friday, holidays off, & no school in the summer
  6. I'm getting paid a pretty nice chunk of change
Preschool bad:
  1. I really miss having Liz around
  2. We're still trying to put the classroom together
  3. I'm constantly surrounded by kids
  4. Planning is harder, because Liz & her folders are gone
  5. I'm getting paid, well, it's still pretty good.
Next week, Steph will come in at 1:00 to help me out, and I'm still holding out hope for a new Kindergarten class to open and take away 7 of those little .... angels.

In other news, Michael's mom is in town this weekend. So far, we've had a Strawberry Waffle breakfast, gone to Prescott, ate delicious Thai food, played cards, and watched Beerfest. On tap today is a possible trip to Lockett Meadow, a Barnes & Noble stop, and a date including Peruvian food & a -maybe- movie. Tomorrow, it's back to the trenches with the added bonus of NAU classes starting! Maybe I'll make myself a white russian with breakfast - it's milk right?

I'm so conflicted

On the one hand, I came home today and wanted to blog. On the other hand, I don't like being demanded to regal you with tales of my life (JEN). And on my third hand, I don't appreciate said order-er around-er spelling my name wrong (WIEdel, not WEIdel, get with it girl). However, I do have much to say, so I will disregard my other hands and give you all this new post, my personal tale of......

!!Blisters & Buffeting in Las Vegas!!

Friday, 4:00 pm: I leave my first full day as a Kindergarten teacher, transfer some moola, & Ricky, Emy, Michael, and I hit the open road to the big city. We stop for some delicious In & Out. I leave my Neapolitan shake half-finished in a high-chair in the corner and leave Tony a mysterious message to look for a present when they arrive in Kingman later.

Friday, 9:00pm: We are in Vegas!!! It's so glittery. The Villa Inn is a graciously air conditioned space. We spruce up, meet Tony & Matt, mix up drinks and hit the streets. With our drinks! Because you can drink on the street in Vegas!! I love that town.

Friday, 9:10pm: I have blisters on my feet. Damn.

Friday, 10:30pm: We meet up outside Treasure Island with Tyler, Anna Mae, Lisa, John, Cody, Robbie, Sean, & Sarah. Over at Harrah's, I learn how to play craps with Michael's money. Our waitress is Very Generous with our free drinks. I loose at craps. I win at the bar slot machine - I'm up $14.15!

Friday, 4:00am: Back at Villa Inn, Michael insists I put my feet in the icey cooler to stem my blisters from swelling. I think this is a great idea, until I do it. It is terrible; check back for pictures. They're sure to amuse.

Saturday, 9:00am: I am awake and feeling fine. I trip around the room to find my book and wake everyone up. We watch Scooby Doo (I'm pretty sure that Snake Bite, the bayoo catfish chaser, was the ghost), but leave at 11:00 am before it's over to eat at the Bellagio buffet.

Saturday, 12:15am: We finally make it to the Bellagio. It's $24, but I ate four plates worth of food, including pesto mashed potatoes, duck leg, ripe strawberries, and little pastries full of chocolate!!

Saturday, 2:00pm: We roll ourselves into a cab and head back to Villa.

Saturday, 2:00 - 5:00pm: Nap Time!!

Saturday, 6:00pm: Michael wraps up my tiny blister (the ice did work) while we watch Beerfest. We wisely take the Monorail to the New York, New York. I win $27.00 at penny slots. Michael wins a hundo at a slot machine.
We blow it on a yummy Irish dinner.

Saturday, 12:00am: The Luxor is sucking up all my money, that bitch. We don't win a Corvette and leave for Karaoke.

Saturday, 1:00am: The Karaoke man makes me a drink of mostly vodka; I ask for an extra cup of Sprite. I end up trashed anyway.

Saturday, 2:15am: Michael's pretending to hump the air. It's time to go home.

Saturday, 3:00am: Oooh! Ethiopian food. The lady seems confused, but we get some good lamb anyway. We gobble it up on the bed and sleep happily.

Sunday, 10:00am: We check out and go to eat at the Ceaser's buffet. Not as glorious, but I eat egg rolls nonetheless. It was a bad idea.

Sunday, 4:00pm: We begin the long car ride home, too full to keep my pants buttoned.

Stay tuned for tales about my first week at school & pictures of the fun.

I took pity...

Awww, Philleppe & I have the same kind of blog: http://philippesblog.blogspot.com/
Too bad he is way better at blogging than I am.

I was planning to agonize you all with one more day of no blogging, but in my gut I knew you were withering away without me. So that was just a tidbit.

Michael says: "Capris are like, "Well, we kinda want to cut costs, so let's only make some pant and still charge the same amount.' ... I'm not trying to be funny."

PS. Randee here's your refresher picture, except he shaved so he does not look like a Wolf Man anymore.

My Achy-Breaky Feet

To begin: Thank you for loving me!! Even the prestigious Kirk Wiedel, aka Daddy has left me a comment. Clearly, this tells me that you're wanting more.

So here's a little Monday night quickie. I have finished my first paid day as a Kindergarten teacher at Marshall Elementary. Obviously, I didn't want people looking at my short self and saying, "Yes? Are you lost? Where's your parents?" So I wore heels and looked most professional. Little known fact, when you have pushed your foot into that uncomfortable 3 inch incline position, you can't feel the pain through all the compliments about how cute your shoes are. I think that is a fundamental insight into women's brains. Put it on a card!

Later this week I will regal you with more tales from a Kindergarten teacher's life, but for tonight I must retire. I have not had a shoe complement in over 5 hours and my toes are killing me.

My Inaugural Address

Dear friends, loved ones, and strangers,

After much consideration and reflection upon my life, I realized that I am such an amazing person that I need not another person to complete my blogging life. I do not need to wait until Michael is legally my 'and', I am my own "and"!! And as such, I will start blogging with enthusiasm along with the rest of you.

I know this pleases many of you (actually, two of you) who have requested I start on this new venture. I would like to thank Randee, for her personal email encouraging me to go forth in this realm. Also, I thank Aleisha, who mysteriously disappeared from MySpace, reminding me what a fragile internet world this is and that I need to spread myself to the far corners of the web. Thank you, Jen and Karlee for helping me realize that, with a blog, I can express myself with constantly changing backgrounds and photo shows. Finally, thank you to my father, who made me clean out my room forcing me to look through my old yearbooks and realize how much I miss you guys.

So rejoice, good friends! Revel in the knowledge that soon, you will know all there is to know about Mollsballs and her mousy life!

Cordially,
Molly and Molly
