i made this blog myself

phineas is quickly becoming my favorite student. here are some jems from this week:

: we started math center rotations (they are all in fixed groups). the next day, they rotated to a new center (still in the same fixed group of kids). after centers ended, phineas comes over and says
"hey! it was the old gang back together again! all the same kids were in my group - it was great!"

: today was phineas' birthday and he brought store-bought cupcakes. as they're eating, he says to the kid next to him
"do you like the circle sprinkles? yeah, i made these myself."

bahahahahahhaha! he is KILLING me. i hope my kid is as hilarious as phineas.

i'm totally bringing back the half-pony tail. no clips, no pieces falling out, nothing fancy. just the good old pony tail holder, holding up half my hair. bam

this is literally the best picture of the front. i took a bajillion photos and i look stupid in all of them. bonus: my shirt is belted into my pants!

of course, that will not stop me from posting them on the interwebs for your enjoyment.

is there seriously anyone in the world who doesn't love lolcats?

firstly, HELLO to my new reader Rania! I like to publicly shout out to people who tell me they read this thing. Did everyone know that Rania's name is awesome to pronounce/shout, has an awesome Georgia accent, AND is an awesome teacher? well, it is, she does, and she is.

secondly, i wanted to record for my own reference that i had a great day! it was the first day this year that i actually enjoyed spending time with my students. i didn't loose my shit at all. my shit stayed firmly in its place! hooray! so here's an actual Shit My Students Say from this year:

Me: "So, literally the poem mentioned a pond and we drew a pond. We need to write 'pond' under 'Literal'."
*Phineas [clearly pleased with himself]: "Um, do we need to ponder that? Get it? Pond. Ponder."
Me [busting up]: "Oh yes, let's ponder the pond for a moment!"

So, when i was looking for "lolcat happy" and google suggested "lolcat harry potter". obviously i searched for that and here is what i got:

for my thoughts on this, please refer to the post title.

now i'm off - to spend time with the husband and cook up something special for this lady:
*for anyone new or who doesn't remember, i like to create nicknames for my students. this kid reminds me of Phineas from Phineas & Ferb:
so, he's got that going for him

brain dump

OR random ideas too long for a facebook status

- i was observed today. as we may remember, observations didn't go very well for me last year. mostly, they ended with the sentiment "you suck. shut up and do it our way." so. me. nervous. but it was great! i got good tips, was praised for excellence, and feel confident that i can improve in other areas. yay for people being the opposite of skanky-ass bitches!

- i am in LOVE with tucking my shirt into my pants + wearing a belt. it equals awesome, grown-up looking molly.

- shit my students say: (hooray a new segment!)
*Boy: "So-and-so was digging around in her pants and then she touched my mat and now it smells like butt!!"
Me: [laughs out loud] Um, tell her to wash her hands and get a wipe to clean your mat.

- cooley tried to jump out the window the other night to get to a passing dog. he busted the screen in half. now it's hanging half-off the window. it's all jacked up. yup, we're those neighbors.

- here's some eye candy

*full disclosure; this happened in kindergarten last year. my 2nd graders just aren't that funny yet.

how to have a kick-ass saturday night

(a.k.a my cousin Elyse's wedding)

STEP ONE: Eat a well-rounded lunch. By "well-rounded" I mean In-N-Out cheeseburgers, fries, and a neapolitan shake. If you're feeling extra kick-ass, eat two double-doubles. Follow this meal with a food-coma nap.

STEP TWO: Wake up and put on a pretty party dress. Make sure it's very pretty, so people will say "Oh! That's such a nice dress. You look lovely!" Compliments make for a very successful Saturday night.

STEP THREE: Meet up some of your favorite people.
the nana
the mother of the bride
the hubs
cousins, glorious cousinssister!
the fasha
probably the most awesome picture of the skelnik ladies of all time
momma

zachary

STEP FOUR: Get some drinks. Eat some snacks (weirdly).

STEP FIVE: Dance your face off.
all der single fruendins (loosely translated: all the single ladies)
this is a new dance. it's called 'walking the baby'

STEP SIX: Be a little silly.
skelnik's move of the night
getting fresh with an old-man mannequin
old-man mannequin getting fresh with mekicking ashley out of a picture with her own father

STEP SEVEN: Watch an amazing episode of Doctor Who.

(side note: if you're not watching this show, you need to be)

STEP SEVEN: Try not to be too upset about your hangover at 5:00am the next day.
i can't believe i'm sharing this with the internet

Try these steps out this Labor Day weekend and you will surely have a kick-ass Saturday night. I know I'm going to!

BONUS PICTURE!!
michael did so much weeding in the backyard last week, he got a sunburn tramp stamp
