It looks like Zoidberg

We can all stop wondering if there is alien life out in the universe. The answer is YES, because it is US. Humans begin as creepy, creepy shapes and lines. An unfathomable process turns us into respectable creatures. But, before that, we all bear a striking resemblance to Dr Zoidberg:

What the hell is going on in there? So, those flappy things are the beginnings of Little Bit's tongue and vocal cords. Seriously, what the hell? It's got its heart chambers and blood vessels. There are no bones yet, but there are some bones cells, so that's something. Plus, theres already a pancreas and appendix.

What the hell is going on out here? My stomach has popped already, which is crazy. Everyone was all, "Nooooooo, you look fiiiinnneee." and then I stopped tightening my stomach muscles and everyone was all, "Oooooohhhhhkaaaayyyyyy, I see it." Also, I'm sick as hell. Mostly it's the afternoons, but I've lost most of my appetite. I know that if eat, I'll feel better but I can't bring myself to put food in my mouth. Hopefully, this abates soon, because its a BITCH.

And now for something completely different… the nausea; this is definitely worse this time around.

In other news, Ashley and I are going to see Eddie Izzard tomorrow - I'm so excited! Also, we've been slowly working our way through The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which is so weird it's hilarious. Michael and I can't stop singing, "They're alive dammit; It's a miracle!"

I'm probably not going to really end these first posts, because I will throw up on this computer if I keep typing.

I'll try to keep the size comparisons fresh.
What the hell is going on in there? I never blogged this early last time around, so here is where you'll probably get your only new tidbits of human reproduction. Little Bit is 4mm at MOST. Get a ruler people, that's teeny tiny. You may say, "Yeah, so? Lots of things are tiny." But here is all the things happening inside those 4mm: there's a distinct head, the beginnings of eyes & ears, a formed spinal column and cord, limb buds (an amazing band name!), a beating heart, TEN DENTAL BUDS IN THE JAWS!, and a tail. Damn, Mother Nature, you are so rad at this life cycle stuff.

What the hell is going on out here? I feel more chubs and some of my pants already don't comfortably button, but that's likely the extra 6ish pounds I had going for me before finding out I was pregnant. I may or may not have worn maternity pants already this week. The bright side is that I was already dressing a muffin-top, so draping around the Little Bit shouldn't be too hard!

And now for something completely different… I don't remember much of how I felt during the first weeks of finding out I was pregnant last time. I'm certain that I wasn't a crazy cartoon pregnant lady, making lunch time stops for Fritos & bean dip. Other cravings this past week include pretzels and mustard, black olives and mustard (the winning combo returns from my last pregnancy), oranges, and cheese. I've also been starving every evening come 5:45.

In other news, our basement flooded during the Fracking Insane Two-Week Rainstorm of 2015. While we're grateful that we didn't get water damage on any of our actual belongings, the basement is a wreck and we're looking at about 3-5 years worth of projects to get everything worked out, with a price tag that would make you puke if I told you. We're banking on this giving us some good cosmic currency and allowing other life events to run smoothly. A major shout-out to Super Cool Neighbors Josh & Lauren for emptying our pack rat's nest and watching Fenner for hours. A quadruple thank you to John & Christa for coming down right away, helping us sort through and store all our crap, and helping lighten the mood for the weekend.

A Brief History of the Last 18 Months

AKA PICTURE POST. Boo-yah! I want you know that the reason this blog went into a coma is because of a perfect storm of technical errors. Our camera burned in a fire and our laptop got old, we replaced them with an iPhone and iPad, both those pieces of equipment sent me into a rage spiral when trying to blog, nobody wants a picture-less post, and thus an amazing blog piddles away into the netherworld of the internet. Yep, the downfall had nothing to do with me. Absolutely Nothing.

So, what happened in the last 18 months? Scroll away, dear friend…..

Two Christmases

Someone learned to walk!

A trip to NYC

Our little baby grew into a tiny dude

Our best Cooley passed away

Pickles joined our family

There's a lot more to cover, but I forgot how exhausting these are to create. I'll try for a part II in the future.

You look older

Probably because we haven't blogged it out in well over a year. I'm not sorry about that, by the way. Everyone knows my apologies are genuine, but do little to change the situation of me never blogging. It's entirely my fault that I'm too busy to prioritize one-way Internet chit-chat. BUT here's some of, but not all of, the reasons I can blog again:

* My child is actually a child now and less of a needy blob. Fenner can do quite a lot of things, such as pee in a toilet, feed the dog, walk down the street unassisted, feed himself, play on his own, fall asleep without a boob in his face, and communicate his needs without random screaming (70% of the time). This frees me up considerably!
* Our Cooley dog passed away nearly a year ago. This was/is devastating and I only mention it because our new dog, Pickles is 60% smaller and 90% more low-maintenance. He weighs like 15 pounds (okay, I just did the math - yes I did the math; I'm a flake, not a monster - and he's technically 40% smaller) and requires much less attention to be happy, which makes me very happy. All hail Mr. Pickles!
* I changed jobs last summer. I did love love love my teammates and school chums (and my sweet little chipmunks in 2nd grade), but extenuating circumstances required me to move on. When the universe kicks you down into a mud puddle and then, when you wipe the grime from your eyes, you see sunbeams shining on a cool little treasure hidden in the bushes, you snatch those goodies up and you run with them. (Here mud puddle = deciding to leave my job and cool treasure = an offer to teach preschool at Fenner's center without going broke). I have so much less stress, obligation, and money than before which can only lead to blogging.
* We purchased a new laptop which is seemingly capable of uploading pictures to this blog. Let's be honest: you don't want to read a blog without photos and I don't want to make one.
