brain dump

OR random ideas too long for a facebook status

- i was observed today. as we may remember, observations didn't go very well for me last year. mostly, they ended with the sentiment "you suck. shut up and do it our way." so. me. nervous. but it was great! i got good tips, was praised for excellence, and feel confident that i can improve in other areas. yay for people being the opposite of skanky-ass bitches!

- i am in LOVE with tucking my shirt into my pants + wearing a belt. it equals awesome, grown-up looking molly.

- shit my students say: (hooray a new segment!)
*Boy: "So-and-so was digging around in her pants and then she touched my mat and now it smells like butt!!"
Me: [laughs out loud] Um, tell her to wash her hands and get a wipe to clean your mat.

- cooley tried to jump out the window the other night to get to a passing dog. he busted the screen in half. now it's hanging half-off the window. it's all jacked up. yup, we're those neighbors.

- here's some eye candy

*full disclosure; this happened in kindergarten last year. my 2nd graders just aren't that funny yet.

how to have a kick-ass saturday night

(a.k.a my cousin Elyse's wedding)

STEP ONE: Eat a well-rounded lunch. By "well-rounded" I mean In-N-Out cheeseburgers, fries, and a neapolitan shake. If you're feeling extra kick-ass, eat two double-doubles. Follow this meal with a food-coma nap.

STEP TWO: Wake up and put on a pretty party dress. Make sure it's very pretty, so people will say "Oh! That's such a nice dress. You look lovely!" Compliments make for a very successful Saturday night.

STEP THREE: Meet up some of your favorite people.
the nana
the mother of the bride
the hubs
cousins, glorious cousinssister!
the fasha
probably the most awesome picture of the skelnik ladies of all time

STEP FOUR: Get some drinks. Eat some snacks (weirdly).

STEP FIVE: Dance your face off.
all der single fruendins (loosely translated: all the single ladies)
this is a new dance. it's called 'walking the baby'

STEP SIX: Be a little silly.

STEP SEVEN: Watch an amazing episode of Doctor Who.

(side note: if you're not watching this show, you need to be)

STEP SEVEN: Try not to be too upset about your hangover at 5:00am the next day.
i can't believe i'm sharing this with the internet

Try these steps out this Labor Day weekend and you will surely have a kick-ass Saturday night. I know I'm going to!

so, it's been so long since i've posted that my browser history didn't even remember the url.

sorry about that.

more coming soon. maybe. probably.

so here are some things:

i know no one is reading this and i can't say i blame anyone. i'm a bad blogger. i won't even promise that i'll blog more often, because we know i'm a liar about that. anyway, here are some things...

i started working on my classroom:
cooley got a buzz cut:
oh man he looks like such a grown-up dog! here's cooley as a wee little bit.

here's the best picture i could find with cooley's old hair cut (the biggest difference is the tail - his rat-tail is no more! i'm mourning)
i found these shorts in the bottom of a drawer. i am in love with them.

i went on my first backpacking trip and our first camping trip as a *family* (cue the awwww). we drank a large amount of homemade snake juice (actually grape juice, sprite, & rum); lounged in a creek; and unsuccessfully stopped cooley from consume large quantities of poop/random piles of dog food.

side note: if you don't watch parks & recreation, you should

i randomly babysat (holla to betsy!) for some extremely cute children. this was my babysitter's club kid kit:
it was a hit & included chocolate chocolate-chip muffins. yes. i'm that good.

this guy came to visit!
we love when that happens (even more when his lady comes, too). mdt was doing some brew-work & this is what i find when i step outside:
yes, nothing better than two men, hanging out in the garage.

also, i love the crap out of this guy:

the universe is a pushover

for as long as i can remember, i have been prone to "over-reacting". it is not my best quality. however, every time i throw an adult temper tantrum about things that are outside of human control, the universe rewards my bad behavior by giving me exactly what i want.

for example. last night, i freaked the frack out about michael not being sent home yet. i whined to him, used my pissy voice, shouted at the dog, and even cried a bit. luh-ame. and this morning, i get a text saying "change of plans. coming home today. love you."

now, you may think this is awesome! huzzah - things always go her way! that might be what you think. but the side-effect of being spoiled by the universe is feeling like this:

so i'm glad i made that stupid cake as it will act as some relief for my guilt of being a spoiled brat. now i'm off to do a load of michael's laundry, clean the kitchen, vacuum, lint-brush the dog hair off cooley's bed, and make sure there's fresh towels in the bathroom. and go to the pool with flora, because i can't punish myself too much. the universe decides after all, not me!

p.s. seriously, i don't care what your prejudices are about LOLCats. i don't care that the way things are spelled makes me have to read it two or three times. that is a hysterical website and i'm pretty sure the cure for all bad feelings.
