brace yourselves

today....[looks around to make sure no one is listening] i liked my job. whaaat?! i got to school and got all my needed work done before the bell. the students had a somewhat productive day, which lead to somewhat less use of my dragon lady voice. the principal genuinely made me laugh. i got all our tests graded and left school at a decent time.

i don't know what happened. i don't know if tomorrow will be absolutely terrible to put the universe back in balance. i don't know if maybe - just maybe - i've turned the corner from "This Place is Wack Ave." onto "I'm Gonna Be Happy No Matter What You Say Blvd". or perhaps it's the fact that i went to target and got these very basement marketplace-ish items:

and, yes, i did get them both in the same fabric/print. it's so glorious and swishy. additionally i got olive and navy tights, brown flats, and the hunger games. so maybe i'm happy because of all that.

oh sweet victory

all this smug boasting will probably (read: definitely) come back to bite me in the ass, buuuut....

let me refer back to this post from September 08 : Dear Cowboys and repeat it here almost verbatim:

Dear Cowboys,

Remember when we totally kicked your asses Sunday? Remember how your first game of the season you lost to your arch rivals - who are infinitely cooler than you? Remember how Tony Romo is a douche? Didn't that all suck for you? Yeah, I thought so.
Sincerely,
A Redskins Fan

P.S. Please tell the Eagles that they are unbelievably stupid and we will rock them. I'll let you tell them because soon you'll both be in the NFL BFF Losers Club.

Today would only have been better if there had been pizza rolls. Or, you know, friends and family to watch the game with.

in case you care

i've spent many minutes on my blog putting up pretty fonts. basically, i got my blog's hair did. you should be able to see some new fonts, but the bulk of the writing is a font called "Pea Lauryn" and it's only visible if you install it on your computer. here's the link

Pea Lauryn Font (http://kevinandamanda.com/fonts/fontsforpeas/pea-lauryn/)

you can download it if you want to see the full awesomeness, but it's probably not necessary. <3

p.s. tell me if you hate this new look and it makes you want to gouge your eyes out. i do not want you to gouge your eyes out.

p.p.s. Quote Quiz (TV edition): "If we finish early, we can sit back and play with the fonts and margins!" man, i love fonts and margins.

this is for kristina....

i am making a new post to talk about 2 things.

Thing One: in a far away land there is a magical basement marketplace that is full to bursting with lovely, flowery, trendy, hippie, awesome clothes. i miss it every day. there can only be one [basement marketplace]! someone in flagstaff, please buy me something from there and mail it to me. please?

Thing Two: i am illin. and by "illin" i don't mean that i'm super awesome or trippin' balls. i mean i'm not feeling very well. i know i'm under the weather because:
a) my nose is drippy, but nothing happens when i blow it.
b) my eyes are hot
c) my lips are chapped
d) i was irrationally annoyed by my students today ("YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU" i said 1,000 times in a dragon-lady roar)

Bonus Thing Three: today a little boy deliberately flipped his pencil into the air. it twirled once and landed tip down in the pencil holder. of course, pencil flipping is dangerous and not allowed. of course, i was in the middle of teaching a Very Important Point (hello, learning to write the number 10 is *crucial*). of course, i immediately laughed and said "That. Was. AWESOME!" his relief was palpable.

GoodBye

07 September 2010

hey ya'll

I don't know why, but I've had the strong urge to say "ya'll" a LOT lately. What could cause this? Hmmmm....

Anyway, my lovely parents came to visit Michael & I this past weekend. It was awesome - just what I needed and very true to my family. It was so comforting to have them here and I only cried a *little* bit when they left. Thankfully, Kristina is coming to visit soon. Then I get Christmas at home (Michael says we can make a long trip!) and maybe try to finagle something in November. I'll worry about trips for 2011 after January -- anyone want to come visit?

So, no matter how much I loved my parents visiting there was one thing I loved more: the moussaka I ate on their first night here. This is moussaka:
It is layers of baked mashed potato, eggplant, beef or lamb, and sliced potato, all covered with a bechamel sauce. I've eaten it before and it was good, so I was excited to order it. This is what happened when it came:

[Molly bites]: Mmm. Mmmmm! This is good!
[Molly bites again]: Oh wow! This is so good!!! Taste this; it's good!
[Makes Michael, Mom, and even Dad take a bite while exclaiming]: I can't believe it's so good! Holy crap, It's SO Good!!!!
Waiter (walks over): How is everything?
Molly: THIS IS SOO GOOD!!!

It was mildly embarrassing, but I don't care and I bet you can guess why (Hint: IT WAS SO GOOD).

Anyway, I could write paragraphs about my parent's visit, but I won't. Mostly because I'm getting tired and need to water the plants. So just imagine these things:

--that delicious moussaka
--coffee
--barbeque, green chili covered burgers, sausage & egg biscuits, vodka iced tea, carne asada.
--climbing to the tallest tower of a "castle" that a man built all by himself; scroll down for a picture (p.s. i think he is a crazy man)
--copious amounts of food network tv
--going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up late

Put those pieces together and be jealous, okay?

i'm pretty sure michael has our camera, so here's an internet pic. and yes, dad bullied me into going to the TOP of that tall tower:
